Incidence of venereal diseases in the Netherlands.

VENEREAL diseases are not notifiable in the Netherlands, but the following data have been obtained from the annual reports of the V.D. clinics, from retrospective enquiries into the incidence of primary and secondary syphilis in general practice for the years 1959, 1963, and 1967, and from a prospective enquiry in dermatological practice for 1967 only. Until 1959-60 there were many V.D. clinics throughout the Netherlands, but it was then decided to close most of them because they were receiving so few new cases. In 1967 there were seventeen stateaided clinics and four municipal clinics (Fig. 1). In recent years their statistics have thus become less and less representative of the incidence of V.D. in the V.D. CLINICS IN THE NETHERLANDS.1967
